The Facilitator’s Role

Teacher, preacher, counselor, or friend; which of these designations best describes the group facilitator? While there may be some element of all four, the group leader is primarily a guide. The role of facilitator is to remove the obstacles to successful group participation. The goal of effective group dynamics leading to education, inspiration, and action, depend on the guidance of the leader, leading from behind. The facilitator does not pull or push, but walks along the path with the group toward their success.
